JUST GIVING CAMPAIGN - securing land for the Kinghorn community

Some years ago, KCLA negotiated an agreement with Lovell (the housebuilder who has been building the Lochside Grange estate) so now it will be possible for the community to purchase the area of land north of Oak Street, adjacent to the present parking semi-circle.  The cost is £6,000, plus around £2,000 to cover legal and professional fees.
We’ve set up a Just Giving page to raise the funding needed to buy this land for the Kinghorn community and we’ve raised over a third of the amount, but we’re still looking for donations.
Can you help?  Some people have given donations in memory of those they have lost, which is very apt as it will help create a place where people are remembered.  Every donation made will help secure the land and will support the environment alongside the eco cemetery.
The link to the Just Giving page is below, thank you for your support:-
Update – June 2022
Thank you to every person who made a donation to the Just Giving campaign to buy the land north of Oak Street in Kinghorn.  We have reached the total needed and we couldn’t have done it without your support.

Thanks again to everyone who completed our survey gathering Kinghorn’s views on the land north of Oak Street.  We’ve produced a summary document of the results and a full copy of the results for your perusal, see links below:-

KCLA General Meeting - October 7th 2021

NOTICE OF GENERAL MEETING – 7 October 2021, 7.30pm

Our General Meeting to update members on our work and consider two Special Resolutions will take
place on Thursday 7 October, 7.30pm virtually via Zoom. The General Meeting will be immediately
followed by a talk from Simon Jones, local horticulturalist and KCLA advisor on How Planting on the
Wild Meadow Eco Cemetery will Create a Place that Remembers the Past, for the Future.
To obtain a link to the meeting please register through Eventbrite, see below.
We were really looking forward to holding a face to face meeting with our members but due to the
rise in Covid numbers we feel that the safest option is to hold the meeting online on Zoom. We have
to apologise to those who cannot join us via this method but we are happy to deliver the papers and
update you after the meeting. Please let us know if you wish us to do so.
The Special Resolutions we wish to be considered are to enable online meetings and electronic
communications as due to the coronavirus pandemic, along with everyone else, we have been
unable to meet in person. The charity regulator OSCR, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator,
requires all charities to ensure that their governing document permits virtual meetings.
In order to comply the committee wish to change Kinghorn Community Land Association’s Articles of
Association to include the words below in italics:

General Meeting - Thursday 6th August, 2020

To support KCLA’s efforts to secure funding to establish an eco-cemetery in Kinghorn, we are applying for charitable status. This application has been provisionally approved by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), pending amendments to our Articles of Association. In order to approve these amendments we will be holding a General Meeting on Thursday 6 August 2020 at 7.30pm. This will precede our monthly committee meeting and, to ensure we maintain physical distancing, will be held by Skype. We require a minimum of 10 Ordinary Members to be present (i.e. those resident in Kinghorn). The meeting should take no more than 10 minutes. There will also be an opportunity to formally appoint new committee members.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held at a later date once lockdown restrictions are relaxed. If you are able to come and support the General Meeting please can you email us at info.kcla@gmail.com, and we will send you details of how to join the meeting together with details of the special resolution that we require to approve to obtain charitable status. The proposed revisions to the Articles and Special Resolution are available on this page too.

We hope to see as many people at this virtual meeting and we hope you are all staying safe.  Many thanks for your continued support.
